The mistakes of history are oft repeated. The collapse of the American, British, Roman and Russian Empires

Those who do not learn from History are doomed to repeat it.


America's current situation is EXACTLY mirroring the collapse of the British Empire. 
The resource wars in Africa didn't start happening until years after I first wrote this.

America is on EXACTLY the same path as the USSR. They had oligarchs too (they were called senior party officials) and spent far too much on the military with chronic strategic overstretch.  They even bankrupted themselves in the same country as America is now doing - Afghanistan.
The Russians had an inferior economic system - it was called communism. 
America too now has an inferior economic system - it is called crony capitalism.
  
The Fall of Rome has much in common with America's current situation. The debasement of the currency, unfunded government liabilities and the shortage of a new source of slaves (in the modern world - the lack of new puppet governments).
