The most appropriate title is the "Job Killer Act"
(see latest updates)
The Affordable Care Act is specifically designed to make lots more money for large Healthcare companies.
Everybody else will be worse off.
Even those who are currently unemployed or who do not currently pay tax will ultimately be worse off because of this Act.
Update 09/25 - Obamacare summary
Obamacare will increase healthcare spending by around $400bn a year, just about all of it paid for by the middle classes (those above the subsidy limits).
Some of it will be paid for by the young who are already struggling to pay off large student loans.
The middle classes will pay for :-
Free and subsidized healthcare for the poor
Numerous stealth taxes which will increase the price of medical products
The increased profits of large drug companies, large healthcare companies and financial speculators like Bain Capital
The increased cost of more government bureaucracy
The salaries of a few thousand more IRS agents
Everyone will pay the increase in prices as businesses cover their additional costs.
Both the lower paid and middle class will pay, as more and more businesses drop healthcare coverage as part of employee benefits, or drop spouse coverage, or switch people to part time working, so they can avoiding paying benefits altogether.
Everyone will also pay because Obamacare offers perverse incentives for businesses to employ illegal aliens instead of American citizens.
The economy will pay because if the middle classes are paying out more than $400bn a year on Healthcare they won't have the money to spend on everything else.
Most of them are only just making ends meet as it is.
The Congressional Budget Office has recently released a statement that Obamacare will cost the American economy 800,000 jobs.
Obamacare is set to have devastating effects on just about everyone in America.
End of update
The model being used for Obamacare was dreamt up by the Heritage Foundation, a right wing think tank, with the specific intention of increasing Corporate profits and specifically not to get a better deal from Healthcare providers.
It is the model used for Romneycare. That is why Romney is such an enthusiastic supporter of it - Bain Capital are set up to make lots of money from it.
The Affordable Care Act will make Healthcare more expensive for everyone in America.
In the end the Affordable Care Act will hurt middle class Americans the hardest.
The Affordable Care Act does exactly the opposite of it's title.
It's title should be :- "The Make Healthcare Even More Unaffordable Act"
Single payer was not chosen because it would make less profit for large Healthcare companies.
Taxes on the poor & middle class will go up by about 3.8% because of it.
Taxes for the wealthier will go up too.
Business costs will rise because of it - they are already starting to raise their prices to pay for it.
Ordinary people will be paying more for all sorts of other goods and services as well as Healthcare.
There is NOTHING in the Affordable Care Act to make Healthcare more efficient. America ranks 37th for Healthcare efficiency. America currently spends 11% of GDP on Healthcare - by far the largest in the world. But Americans are not healthy - they have one of the lowest life expectancy rates in the Western world and it is rising slower than the rest of the developed world.
Mitt Romney and Bain Capital are huge supporters of the Affordable Care Act. They are set up to make LOADS of money from it. See 1
Healthcare policy should be being directed at making Healthcare more EFFICIENT - exactly the opposite of what the "Affordable Healthcare Act does".
Healthcare policy should be focussed on :-
Cutting the over $100bn a year of Medicare fraud
Cutting the price of drugs - America pays by far the highest prices in the world
Cutting the cost of medical malpractice insurance - again multiple times higher than anywhere else in the world
Stopping over treatment and over prescription.
10% of all Americans are now on Prozac or similar drugs - a lot of them take it for the rest of their lives.
Encouraging prevention and healthy living by promoting natural remedies and natural food, currently the government does the exact opposite. See 2
Encouraging efficacy - not half treatment.
Stopping outright fraud in clinical trials. This research is funded by the large drugs companies who will employ medical researchers that are most favorable to their aims of selling more drugs. Side effects and the lack of efficacy of new drugs are routinely hidden.
Completely reform the FDA which currently works for the large drug companies and Monsanto.
Get the influence of the large drugs companies and Monsanto out of the FDA.
France for example is about DOUBLE the efficiency of America for Healthcare.
I am sure that Americans can do MUCH better than the French if they put their minds to it.
Other improvements in efficiency would come from needing less healthcare because Americans would become healthier from eating better food and having less harmful side effects because the amount of prescription drugs being taken has been reduced.

Insuring the currently uninsured millions does not come for free.
It will be paid for by taxpayers.
It is the equivalent of about a 3.8% income tax hike.
It will make America in general less efficient and productive.
Anything that makes America less efficient and productive costs jobs.
So even those who are currently unemployed will suffer.
It will make it even harder for them to find a decent job, or even any job at all.
So even those who are currently unemployed will suffer.
It will make it even harder for them to find a decent job, or even any job at all.
A large amount of the additional cost will be paid for by middle class taxpayers - those on $40,000 to $100,000 a year. They will be hit hardest.
Business costs will rise because of it - they are already starting to raise their prices to pay for it.
Ordinary people will be paying more for all sorts of other goods and services as well as Healthcare.
The "Affordable Healthcare Act" will make price inflation higher than it would otherwise be. This price inflation will not be fully reflected in official cpi statistics - it never is. It will therefore not be reflected in wage or benefits cost of living adjustments.
Even those on fixed incomes who do not currently pay tax such as pensioners will pay a price. Their standard of living has just been reduced by the "Affordable Care Act".
It will mean that EVERYBODY will have LOWER disposable incomes.
Lower disposable incomes mean less revenue and profits for American businesses and less jobs.
Ultimately there is a limit on what America can afford to pay for Healthcare as a percentage of GDP (it is currently at 11% and still rapidly rising).
If Healthcare in general is less efficient and more expensive it will ultimately mean that America is LESS healthy because of the "Affordable Care Act". Life expectancy will be lower than it would otherwise be (for the great majority that actually work).
As it also means lower GDP growth rates going forward by making America less efficient, the GDP pie will be smaller so less money per person will ultimately be available.
The "Affordable Care Act" should be entitled "The Kill Off Pensioners Quicker Act".
There is less bang for each buck and there are less bucks available so people will die off quicker.

Update 03/23
Healthcare premium rise by state due to Obamacare.
60 to 100% increases are the norm.
http://market-ticker.org/akcs-www?post=218947
These numbers are from a GOP joint House/Senate report and as such need to be fact checked.
This story from Huffy Po and WSJ only serves to confirm that the numbers in the previous link are about right.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/03/22/health-insurance-premium-increases_n_2932704.html
Looks like Obamacare should have a new title :-
American Job Killer.
Those sorts of massive increases in Healthcare premiums will cost millions of American jobs.
America will head for a VERY deep recession in 2014.
No wonder individual States are seeking to nullify Obamacare.
Obamacare is going to have larger detrimental effects on the US economy than I first thought (if it is implemented as planned in a large number of State and not nullified).
Around 32 million more people will now be included in Healthcare coverage, or about 10% of the population - paid for / subsidized by the rest of the population in their increased insurance premiums.
The people that will now be included are mostly those that either have pre-existing conditions or the poor that cannot currently afford to pay for Heath Insurance.
Both of these population groups have higher healthcare requirements than average, along with the cost of providing it.
The US spent 15.3% of GDP on Healthcare in 2008.
Healthcare costs have been increasing substantially more than the economy since then. Healthcare inflation has been around 8% a year since 2008.
Total Healthcare spending in 2012 was about $3tn.
We can expect Healthcare spending to rise by more than $300bn a year due to the implementation of Obamacare.
This $300bn+ of spending will be unavailable to be spent on everything else.
In addition businesses are already raising their prices to cover the expected increases in their costs and they have stopped hiring because of the expected increases in costs.
Businesses are also seeking to reduce their increase in costs, e.g. by excluding spouses from employeee healthcare plans. To buy the same coverage the employee will have to purchase a more expensive personal healthcare insurance plan.
The greater the demand for something, the more the price will rise.
And there are very few market or regulatory suppressants on what the Healthcare industry can charge for Healthcare provision.
There just isn't a competitive market and the market is about to become even less competitive with the model used by Obamacare.
See this from Forbes :-
http://www.forbes.com/sites/merrillmatthews/2013/03/22/why-health-care-spending-will-explode-under-obamacare-evidence-from-medicare/
Obamacare will not only dramatically increase the price of Healthcare insurance it will cause higher inflation in just about everything else.
So there will be $300bn less available to spend each year on goods and services that will each cost substantially more.
Obamacare will have a dramatic reduction on ordinary people's disposable incomes and will greatly deepen the coming recession.
Obamacare is set to cost millions of American jobs in the next 2 or 3 years.

Few individuals or organizations have been as influential as Mitt Romney and Bain Capital in worsening our runaway healthcare costs, causing unnecessary suffering, or accelerating our government's long-term deficit problem. Their highly leveraged investment strategy puts healthcare companies under enormous pressure to increase revenue. They often respond by overbilling -- or worse, by encouraging unnecessary medical treatments that can include anything from non-invasive tests to heart surgery.
I spent many years working in healthcare economics: running health service companies, projecting health plan costs for governments and employers, and analyzing healthcare investments. I've reviewed hospital bills in detail and seen shocking things: Thousands of dollars for bandages and gauze during a surgery; a 12,000-percent markup on ointments; a $250 charge for the lightbulb in a projector the hospital claimed was used during surgery.

Appendix 2
Prevention, healthy living, drugs companies and government policy
The government should be encouraging prevention and healthy living by promoting natural remedies and natural food. The government currently does the exact opposite.
Currently the FDA goes out of it's way to disparage natural and herbal cures - they don't have side effects and they don't make money for drug companies or Healthcare companies.
The business model of large drug companies is basically to encourage people to get sick, then half treating them so that they are a source of revenue for the drugs companies for the rest of their lives.
Or just to keep people alive for longer, that are dependent on staying alive by taking drugs from the large drugs companies.
Of course the large Healthcare companies take their cut from this extra revenue for the large pharmaceutical companies.
The government in general encourages the consumption of GMO foods which are harmful to health.
Monsanto has about 12 ex senior employees installed in government and the FDA to promote pro Monsanto government policies.
The current government policies that the government says promote healthy living are worse than useless.
Nobody takes any notice of them and it is a waste of taxpayer money.
The government promotes unhealthy habits in all sorts of other ways.
A lot of children are now on Ritalin. Kids are still as boisterous as ever. In times past kids misbehavior was treated with a healthy dose of discipline - it would still work for the great majority of cases today.
(I am talking about telling them to go to their room, grounding them, taking benefits and privileges away like ice cream, gameboys, cell phones and social media internet access etc. - not beating the hell out of them.)
Getting kids on Ritalin, sets up kids to be on medication for life - a very profitable revenue stream for the drugs companies and the Healthcare industry in general.

Appendix 3
Large Healthcare companies are taking advantage of the expected bonanza to them because of the "Affordable Care Act". They now have lots more customers.
Because Healthcare is now going to be even more profitable as a result of the "Affordable Care Act" and the way it is structured - the large Healthcare companies are consolidating to form a cartel to control the market. They will then be able to put up the price of Healthcare even more.
Large healthcare companies are also consolidating to control the entire process from insurance premiums to the delivery of treatment. It is exactly akin to the big oil business model - from exploration to delivery at the gas station.
The big oil companies are making record profits - they have managed to form themselves into a cartel with about 5 major players controlling 80% of the market.
Healthcare companies are also buying up subsidiaries overseas in countries with low rates of Corporation tax. This is to divert the expected boom in US generated profits to low tax countries to avoid paying US Corporation tax.
Bad news for families. The cheapest Obamacare plan will be $20,000 per family.
Healthcare costs just skyrocketed.

Doctor's KNOW how bad Obamacare is going to be
Mitt Romney of course has always been a very strong supporter of Obamacare and urge Barack Obama to implement a national healthcare mandate as recently as 2009.
The reason of course is that Bain Capital is set to make a lot of money out of Obamacare.
"Few individuals or organizations have been as influential as Mitt Romney and Bain Capital in worsening our runaway healthcare costs, causing unnecessary suffering, or accelerating our government's long-term deficit problem. You would of thought that with so much scope for improvement, something would of been done to actually improve things.
But of course Romneycare is not directed at improving Healthcare. It is only directed at improving the profits of the large Healthcare companies.

Pure pharmaceutical greed, how big pharma is ripping off America
in 2012, the top 11 global drug companies made nearly $85 billion in net profits.
They made these profits by slapping extraordinary price tags on the prescription drugs and health treatments that Americans are forced to rely on in order to survive devastating diseases like cancer.
But while drug companies have been largely able to get away with robbing Americans left and right for the past several decades, more and more people are speaking up about the outrageous costs of lifesaving treatments.
A group of more than 100 leading oncologists from across the globe have penned a journal article, announcing their plans to start a campaign to force drug companies to slash their profit margins.
The Healthcare industry is a very unusual sector in that it is better to have less of it. Obamacare goes in EXACTLY the WRONG direction
Less of it in the sense that it would be better if people were healthier and the treatments were more effective so that people needed less of it.
American Healthcare companies make more money if there is more of it (higher levels of spending) because people are LESS healthy and need more of it (they also make more money if the treatments are less effective, e.g. so that people need to stay on the drugs for longer or there are side effects from the drugs or they suffer complications from an operation.)
The fundamental drivers of the American Healthcare industry are in direct opposition to the interests of the public.
Obamacare just makes it worse, by making the American Healthcare market even less competitive.
It will dramatically increase the costs of Healthcare - Healthcare premiums are set to rise by 30 to 100% (it varies by state) when Obamacare is due to fully come in from October 2013.
It will also dramatically increase the profits of the large Healthcare companies. The large Healthcare companies are licking their lips at the prospect - the Healthcare sector is one of the biggest risers in the recent stock market rally.
In single payer schemes the government has control over the level of total spending and there are therefore some incentives to get better value.
Even here though every government single payer scheme is fundamentally mismanaged and could be made to be a hell of a lot better - even in France, Canada and Australia.
Tell me an area of government activity that isn't drastically and fundamentally mismanaged in any country.
I don't know of any (some are worse than others).
For the full effects of the full implementation of Obamacare see this.
It is going to cost millions of American jobs.
Update 05/03
Obamacare's tax trainwreck
Lots of examples about how taxes coming in from October 2013 are about to hit the working poor and middle class HARD.
E.G. The fines for not having Healthcare insurance dramatically rise in future years.
Obamacare Individual Mandate Non-Compliance Tax: Starting in 2014, anyone not buying “qualifying” health insurance – as defined by President Obama’s Department of Health and Human Services -- must pay an income surtax to the IRS. The Congressional Budget Office recently estimated that six million American families will be liable for the tax, and as pointed out by the Associated Press: “Most would be in the middle class.”
In addition, 100 percent of Americans filing a tax return (140 million filers) will be forced to submit paperwork to the IRS showing they either had “qualifying” health insurance for every month of the tax year or they obtained an exemption to the mandate.
Americans liable for the surtax will pay according to the following schedule
1 Adult | 2 Adults | 3+ Adults | |
2014 | 1%AGI/$95 | 1%AGI/$190 | 1%AGI/$285 |
2015 | 2%AGI/$325 | 2%AGI/$650 | 2%AGI/$975 |
2016 | 2.5%AGI/$695 | 2.5%AGI/$1390 | 2.5%AGI/$2085 |
(Bill: PPACA; Page: 317-337)
Something to look forward to in tax year 2018 (not):
Obamacare Tax on Union Member and Early Retiree Health Insurance Plans: Obamacare imposes a new 40 percent excise tax on high cost or “Cadillac” health insurance plans, effective in 2018. This tax increase will most directly affect union families and early retirees, who are likely to be covered by such plans. This Obamacare tax will be levied on insurance policies whose premiums exceed $10,200 for an individual and $27,500 for a family. Middle class union members tend to be covered by such plans in states like Ohio, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Michigan. Higher threshold ($11,500 single/$29,450 family) for early retirees and high-risk professions. CPI +1 percentage point indexed. (Bill: PPACA; Page: 1,941-1,956)
http://www.atr.org/obamacares-tax-hike-train-wreck-a7587
Update 05/19
Obamacare is a back door tax hike of $100bn a year on the middle classes.
Taxes imposed on products and companies will be passed onto consumers.
Presumably this is part of the massive price rises (30 to 100%) expected for Healthcare premiums in 2014.
There are lots of new taxes as a result of Obamacare. The IRS is spending an additional $881 million and hiring 1,954 new IRS agents just to implement Obamacare. Goodness knows how much they will waste to police it.
Obamacare contains what the Treasury's inspector general called "the largest set of tax law changes in 20 years."
Obamacare is so complicated the auditors cannot even decide how many provisions the IRS is supposed to police.
The IRS is now going to get access to the medical records of virtually all Americans.

Update 05/26
Some unions now angry over Healthcare overhaul
When President Barack Obama pushed his healthcare overhaul plan through Congress, he counted labor unions among his strongest supporters.
But some unions leaders have grown frustrated and angry about what they say are unexpected consequences of the new law — problems that they say could jeopardize the health benefits offered to millions of their members.
The issue could create a political headache next year for Democrats facing re-election if disgruntled union members believe the Obama administration and Congress aren't working to fix the problem.
"It makes an untruth out of what the president said, that if you like your insurance, you could keep it," said Joe Hansen, president of the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union. "That is not going to be true for millions of workers now."
The problem lies in the unique multiemployer health plans that cover unionized workers in retail, construction, transportation and other industries with seasonal or temporary employment. Known as Taft-Hartley plans, they are jointly administered by unions and smaller employers that pool resources to offer more than 20 million workers and family members continuous coverage, even during times of unemployment.
The union plans were already more costly to run than traditional single-employer health plans. The Affordable Care Act has added to that cost — for the unions' and other plans — by requiring health plans to cover dependents up to age 26, eliminate annual or lifetime coverage limits and extend coverage to people with pre-existing conditions.
"We're concerned that employers will be increasingly tempted to drop coverage through our plans and let our members fend for themselves on the health exchanges," said David Treanor, director of healthcare initiatives at the Operating Engineers union.
