Dr Benjamin Carson speaks words full of truth, words full of wisdom
"What I said was not right wing, it wasn't left wing - it was logic and common sense .....people are starving for this out of Washington DC - I don't know where we left our brains"
Yes - Dr Carson's speech was entirely logical and contained huge dollops of common sense, together with a deep understanding and knowledge of, America's problems.
Yes - people are starving for it - they will literally be starving if things are not radically changed.
Yes - Washington DC do not use their brains or common sense and the electorate no longer think for themselves.
"We have gone from a can do nation to a - what can you do for me nation"
(From JFK's inaugural address -
""The energy, the faith, the devotion which we bring to this endeavor will light our country and all who serve it – and the glow from that fire can truly light the world. And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you – ask what you can do for your country."
I would add as Benjamin Carson basically said above :-
"ask not what your country can do for you - ask what YOU can do for YOURSELF")
JFK would not recognise the America of today - it is anathema to all that he stood for - freedom, prosperity and the well being of ALL Americans.)
"We are destroying the fabric of this nation"
"People don't know about anything. They don't know about history, they don't know about technology, they know so little the news media is able to tell them whatever they (the news media) want them to think"
This guy REALLY understands America's problems.
And most of the reason why America has such huge problems is identified in Benjamin Carson's comments and what his mother forced him to do to turn his life completely around as a kid.
People don't turn off the TV and read books - they do not inform and educate THEMSELVES.
"people say - well that's what they said on the news, people don't think for themselves"
Americans have left their brains in the trash can - they do not accept anything unless they see it in mainstream print or on mainstream TV. Even when somebody totally destroys what has been said in mainstream print or on mainstream TV, with reason and logic and common sense, they don't want to accept the media is laying a false narrative to them.
"The founders of our nation said, our nation will fundamentally change when people are so ignorant they are easily led"
That single statement sums up what America has become today.
"WE have to get rid of Political Correctness and let people say what they really mean, let them really be able to express their ideals"
From earlier in the interview on Political Correctness and why it is dangerous and counter productive for America :-
"One of our founding pillars was freedom of speech and freedom of expression and yet we have imposed upon people restrictions on what they can say - on what they can think. The media is the largest proponent of this - crucifying people for saying things that are quite innocent and well meant."
I wrote the same thing on my blog - just a few days ago.
If people are unable to clearly identify what the problems are and what they think the solutions might be, because of free speech limitations imposed by Political Correctness - the problems will never be truly described and explained, they will never be understood and they will NEVER BE SOLVED.
"I would be willing to debate anyone on the President's Health team and show how it can be improved and done for less money."
I BET HE CAN.
I bet that American healthcare could be improved by 400% if Dr Benjamin Carson had a free hand.

This guy HAS to run for President.
There is no one else out there that fundamentally understands America's problems and has the will, the principles and the ideas to turn things around.here is no one else out there that will be able to generate enough coverage and have a REAL debate amongst countless millions of Americans about what needs to be done to turn things around.
This guy is modest, he is not power hungry.
I think he would be very ready to listen to other people's ideas that expand upon and build upon the GREAT ideas he already has.
His ideas would already take America in a large leap in the right direction instead of continuing America's current insidious decline - which is where both parties are currently taking us.
Let's have a REAL discussion and debate about what needs to happen to turn America around and get it heading in the RIGHT direction again.
Let's get America headed back UP again - stronger and more prosperous, not headed down - weaker and poorer.
Let's have that REAL debate with tens of millions of Americans.

The full version of Dr Benjamin Carson's truly amazing speech on 7th February in front of Barack Obama.
http://ian56.blogspot.co.uk/2013/02/everybody-in-america-should-watch-this.html
A POWERFUL voice of moderation needs to arise from the center.
Is Ben Carson that voice?
Let's see.
http://ian56.blogspot.co.uk/2012/11/a-powerful-voice-of-moderation-needs-to.html
This voice will target the 40% of independents, moderate Democrats and moderate Republicans and will advocate policies that are radically different from the two main extremist parties.
This voice will advocate policies that create wealth for the many and the creation of numerous well paid jobs.
Current Federal government policies by BOTH the Democrats and the Republicans actively lead to a decline in America's overall wealth and the wealth of over 95% of the population. See 1 for the trend and status of America today.
This voice will need it's own NEW political party and it's own newspaper to broadcast it's message.
There are no current avenues to express the following opinions and suggestions to a large audience.
It would need sponsorship to get off the ground.
There are several wealthy individuals who have already expressed extreme dissatisfaction with the two main extremist parties who are candidates to provide this initial impetus.
They have a record of already donating to candidates outside of currently accepted "mainstream" opinion.
I do not believe it is going to be possible to effect meaningful change in either main party from within (unless they start to get some REAL competition).
BOTH main parties discourage dissent and the discussion of alternative ideas. The mainstream media is absolutely complicit in this.
The policies of BOTH main extremist parties are absolutely TERRIBLE and very similar on non social issues.
The main extremist parties have both done a wonderful propaganda job of dividing a nation straight down the middle on what amounts to very trivial issues from a strategic direction point of view.
They have managed to get one half of America absolutely HATING the other half by keeping the discussion very narrow and avoiding the MANY areas where they both agree but are catastrophically harmful to the USA.
How about the radical idea of advocating America first and political party second?
Policy
This voice will advocate policies that will raise business competitiveness in the US to attract well paid jobs and reverse the current trend of well paid jobs moving overseas.
It will advocate policies that will restore America's genius - a system of friendly competition between a large number of economic and political units called states and cut the overbearing, monopolistic, overspending, wasteful Federal government back to it's proper size.
It will seek to reduce the endemic corruption in the political process that leads to the Federal government wasting well over $1 trillion every year. (See 2)
It will seek to instil business confidence that the Federal government is finally going to get serious about tackling the rampant budget deficit. Current policies by both main parties will lead to deficits that are well over $1 trillion for the indefinite future.
It will seek an end to the pervasive devaluation of the dollar and the consequent price inflation of basic necessities that hits the poorest sections of society hardest.
It will be different from the Perpetual War Party whose members currently include the leadership of BOTH the Republicans and the Democrats.
It will drastically reduce military spending from the current 2012 levels of $1,219bn. (See 3)
Why is the US spending about double what it did at the peak of the cold war, when there are no strategic threats like the USSR was?
It will gradually lower taxes by a VERY significant amount, starting with the POOREST taxpayers.
The USA grew fastest when there wasn't a Federal income tax and there wasn't an IRS.
It will help the "47%" that are currently dependent on the government by drastically reducing the numbers that currently HAVE to rely on the government and drastically increasing the numbers that derive sufficient income from the private sector.
It will reduce the size of the Federal government and hand back power to the states where it rightfully belongs.
It will reverse the current trend of a reduction in civil liberties, which both main extremist parties currently support.
It will critique on the widespread abuses of power by the authorities from the President, Congress, the TSA, the cops on the street and all levels in between. It will reverse the current acceptance of such abuses - there is no current public outcry.
It will drastically improve public education without spending one extra cent, by transferring education policy from the Federal government and education boards to the parents. See 4.
It will reverse the current emphasis on more college education for subjects and careers that don't need it. It will stop the current system whereby large numbers of young people leave education loaded with debts, holding increasingly valueless degrees. The cost of a College education is rising far more than general inflation. Increased demand ALWAYS increases the price, other factors being equal, it is a basic market principle.
It will make politicians accountable to the people - Congress has a 10% approval rating yet the same politicians are voted in again and again.
The great majority of Federal politicians derive most of their re-election fees (their campaign costs) and a large slice of their income from lobbyists and the large corporations/unions/special interests they serve. These donors will not pay them again if they don't get what they want.
It will make large corporations and wealthy individuals accountable to the Rule of Law - any harm that they do will attract penalties commensurate with that harm. Bad behavior should be punished and discouraged. They should be prosecuted with the full vigor of the Law when they breach it. At the moment they are protected by politicians in return for campaign donations.
Why are no significant bankers in jail over the widespread mortgage frauds, before, during and after the housing bubble bursting?
It will stop senior employees from large corporations being embedded in government. The influence in government of companies like Goldman Sachs and Monsanto is contrary to the public good and contrary to the overall wealth of the United States.
It will stop the revolving door between government and lobbyists.
It will reduce the amount of money in politics by reducing the size and spending of the Federal government and limiting the amounts of money that can be spent on elections.
All drugs to be legalized combined with a treatment program. Prohibition didn't work in the 1920's and it doesn't work now. Prohibition leads to a massive increase in crime, violence and corruption. It does NOT stop or reduce usage. Prohibition of drugs actually increases the number of hard drug addicts as Portugal has shown. See 4.
It will seek an end to the class warfare Criminal "Justice" system. It will seek an end to the crackdown on harmless non violent pot smokers.
There are now 1.5 million Americans in jail. What proportion of those are rich or well off? Very few.
America's so called justice system heavily discriminates against the poor and ruins countless lives needlessly.
An arrest or conviction for a minor drugs offence carries a very heavy burden for future employment prospects. It is not suffered by the rich who use drugs - they don't get a black mark on their record, they are not arrested or prosecuted.
It will seek to make healthcare more EFFICIENT and thus more affordable.
It will seek to reduce the value and number of lawyers by simplifying the 7,000 page statute book and 7,200 page tax code. It will make the US more competitive by so doing - legal costs are a significant factor in the cost of doing business in the US.
The high costs of lawyers is also a factor in people's everyday lives. Nobody dares do anything in the US now, without first consulting a lawyer. It actively discourages people from setting up new businesses.
Lawyers are NOT wealth creators beyond ensuring the basic functions of the Rule of Law can be applied.
There are now over a million lawyers in the US, they are a significant drain on America's wealth.
The US comes top of the world in two measures, the number of lawyers per capita and the cost of lawyers.
Business competitiveness to be raised to provide economic stimulus by :-
CUTTING the number of government regulations. 40,000 new regulations came into force on January 1st and 6,000 more have been added since. This trend needs to be reversed.
CUTTING taxes for the lower paid first. This will reduce labor costs (employee wages can be cut by a proportion of the tax savings and the employees will still be better off).
By getting the Federal government out of the way by reducing it's size.
By reducing the burden of the Federal government by reducing it's cost.
By reducing the abuses of power by the Federal government.
By making large corporations subject to the Rule of Law and creating a level playing field with small and medium sized businesses.
By stopping government favoritism, welfare and subsidies to selected large corporations - and the issuance of highly lucrative government contracts by overpaying favored large corporations.
By stopping America's wealth being siphoned off to offshore tax havens - both Corporate and Personal. Corporations are currently sitting on a cash pile of about $2tn, much of it offshore. There is currently no incentive for them to invest it in America - in fact it would cost them to bring offshore money home.
By creating a level playing field and a fairer system of Corporate taxation.
Currently large companies siphon off profits generated within the United States to tax havens and pay very little or even zero Corporation tax. This practice is so widespread that almost all large companies pay less than 10% corporate tax. The increased revenues collected from large corporations should be used to reduce corporation tax incurred by small and medium sized businesses which are the true wealth creators.
It is such a powerful incentive that large healthcare companies are now buying up foreign subsidiaries so that when Obama's "Affordable Care Act" comes into force, the large profits generated within the US can be siphoned off to lower tax havens.
The voice of moderation from the centre and a new political party
To have a voice the moderates need to be heard by large numbers of the population.
The mainstream media shut out this voice both from the left and the right. It is not in the interests of their owners and sponsors (large advertisers) all of which are large corporations. This is not about to change.
I suggest to get started that a newspaper be produced.
A distribution deal with major outlets should be strived for, but may be difficult to obtain.
In any event this newspaper should be distributed on college campuses, places of higher education/vocational training and schools.
And anywhere else where significant numbers of young people congregate.
An army of volunteer distributors should be recruited.
It is the young that are more receptive to new ideas, it is the young that have the most at stake in the future of America.
This newspaper will recruit volunteer or low paid reporters, contributors and editorial staff.
This newspaper will contain :-
An elaboration of policies and discussion of the policies outlined above.
The reporting of the widespread abuse of power of the authorities, using specific examples, from the President, Congress, Federal law enforcement, NSA, DHS, TSA, cops on the street and all levels in between.
The reporting of Federal government policies, Executive Orders and legislation that may affect budget deficits, government spending, business competitiveness, civil rights or Foreign Policy.
The reporting of Federal government decision making and critiques of the statements made by politicians from both main parties.
The reporting of abuses of power by corporations and incestuous relationships with government.
The reporting of the current efforts for marijuana legalization.
The reporting of whistle blowers - their statements and their treatment - both government and corporate.
Reporting of; and discussion of; economic conditions and strategy, monetary strategy and policy - which are beneficial and which are detrimental. Hopeful noteworthy economists might be recruited as contributors for this - people like Peter Schiff, Jim Rogers, Marc Faber - anybody that predicted the collapse of the housing bubble before it happened would be potential candidates. Anybody who didn't would not. Lots of people predicted the collapse of the housing bubble. It just wasn't reported by the mainstream media.
Reporting of the effects of the current drone warfare and double tap drone strike policy in the foreign countries that it is affecting. It will primarily report on the effects of the local and regional populations.
Reporting of the wars currently in progress, primarily from reports on the ground.
Reporting on the effects of foreign policy in general.
Reporting of initiatives launched at individual state or local level which may have a bearing or influence on policy for the national stage.
Reporting of local stories that may have a bearing on the national stage. (A section could be reserved for each state perhaps.)
This newspaper and new political party will need sponsorship to get off the ground.
There are already a number of wealthy individuals that have expressed extreme dissatisfaction with BOTH of the two main parties and might be willing to lend their support to such an initiative. Some of them are already sponsoring independent political candidates outside of the two main extremist parties.
There is plenty of material and subject matter for such a newspaper.
The solutions outlined above are in most part pertinent to almost all governments.
I suppose we should be thankful that other governments are also extremely good at mismanaging their countries, so that there is not more competition from the likes of Switzerland.
Or you could say that it should be very easy to out manage and out govern almost every other country.
The US did that for well over 100 years.
Why aren't we doing it now?
