The vast majority of Muslims want nothing more than a comfortable life and better prospects for their children. Just like most other people. 
There are always some extremists, lunatics and warmongers in any society - be it Muslim, Christian, Jew or Hindu. 
Usually they are in the great minority - unless the population succumbs to mass propaganda (usually with some severe economic hardship - think Germany in the 1930's). 

There was already push back against radical Islam, because it offered inferior economic prospects. 
The Islamic Extremists were defeated in the Algerian civil war of 1995. 

Just like the USSR was eventually defeated because it was an inferior economic model, radical Islam would of been defeated (or greatly marginalised) by the weight of ordinary people too.
