We need to change the language of the political debate and call out the Extremists

Posted on 13:46 by Unknown

The extremists are those that seek to systematically dismantle the natural civil rights that are enshrined within the Bill of Rights - not much is now left.
The extremists are those that run the government for the benefit of crony Corporations and financial elites.
The extremists are those that take the lobbyist bribes to further enrich the wealthy and which continue to wreck the economy and impoverish America.
The extremists are those that pass a budget deal that further enriches a few thousand wealthy people and further impoverishes over 300 million Americans.
The extremists are those that pass measures which further accelerate the growing and now extreme income inequality in America.

When the top 0.1% did not completely own the government, there was growing prosperity for all.
Now that they do, there is poverty.

The moderates are those who advocate the principles upon which America was founded and which made her great.
The Bill of Rights
Small government
Very low taxes

The moderates advocate policies that encourage a thriving and prosperous middle class.
The extremists are wiping the middle class out.

The moderates are NOT right wing.
Nothing is further right wing than Fascism and Corporatism, which are the policies now advocated by the current leaders of both the GOP and the Dems.

It is about time we stopped calling the people who advocate a strong and prosperous America right wing nut jobs.
It is about time that we started calling the people who advocate Corporatism and Fascism extremists.

The latest Budget "Deal"

Senator Patty Murray and Rep. Paul Ryan cut a deal on behalf of government cronies in the top 0.1%.
The only people that will benefit from this deal are crony Corporations, financial speculators and
banksters.
A few thousand people will benefit from the budget deal.
Over 300 million Americans will be worse off.

The House has approved a budget that :-

Increases spending by $60bn a year, keeping all of the over $1.3tn of annual crony Corporate welfare.
Keeps the massive $200bn a year tax hike on the poor and middle class from the disastrous fiscal cliff deal.

Raises taxes via fees.
Fees actually increase the proportion and burden of taxation that fall on the poor and middle class, they hardly affect the rich at all.
Increasing taxes on the middle class and the poor will lower future GDP growth and increase future unemployment.
If the government takes more from people who are already on the breadline or who are struggling to cope, they won't have that money to spend on other things and the overall economy will suffer as a result.

Cuts Veteran's pensions.

Does nothing to improve future economic growth.

Does nothing to resolve the looming fiscal deficit - by 2023:-
Spending will be around $6tn
The deficit will be well over $3tn
The National Debt will be over $40tn

The budget that SHOULD be on the table

Immediate cuts of $1.3tn to annual crony Corporate Welfare

Lower taxes on middle earners and below -
an immediate increase in the income tax thresh hold to $45,000 a year (from $8,500)
Reverse the $108bn payroll tax hike

Help for small and medium sized businesses which are the true job and wealth creators in America.
Remove all the tax loopholes and subsidies to the crony Corporations and use that money to cut Corporation Tax to 25% for EVERYONE.

Make the first $100,000 of profits tax free, like Singapore does.

The measures above will get bottom up spending and recruitment going again.

What do you want to do with the rest of the over $600bn a year we have just saved?

There are reasons as to why Singapore remains in the top 5 wealthiest countries, while America has slipped from 1st to 17th and still falling.

The Singapore government helps the little guy to thrive, while the American government now grinds the little guy into the dust in return for campaign donations from wealthy crony Corporate elites.

They pay 39% Corporation Tax on profits between $100,000 and $335,000.
http://biztaxlaw.about.com/od/businesstaxes/a/corptaxrate.htm
So as soon as a young business starts becoming really successful and is making taxable profits of over $100,000 a year, the U.S. government thinks it is best to start taxing them to death.
No wonder that the number of new business start ups and the number of people employed in those new start ups, is rapidly declining.

Current CBO projections are based on ludicrous assumptions and not based on current economic conditions
The CBO will have to massively revise down their estimates of future growth rates.
They are already massively out for 2013 GDP growth.

Mother Jones gives out highly misleading info on Pentagon spending & the budget deal

Posted on 00:43 by Unknown
The Mother Jones article
http://www.motherjones.com/politics/2013/12/pentagon-budget-deal-charts-cuts

The only people that Senator Patty Murray and Rep Paul Ryan rode to the rescue of, was crony Corporations, financial speculators and banksters.
A few thousand people will benefit from the budget deal.
Over 300 million Americans will be worse off.

The real cost of the Afgan & Iraq wars is over $5tn and still rising. Not the $1.5tn quoted - that's just the official costs from the Pentagon and all sorts of costs have been hidden elsewhere.
http://ian56.blogspot.com/2012/05/real-cost-of-afghan-and-iraq-wars.html

Military spending is currently $1.2tn a year, not the $652bn quoted.
All sorts of military spending has been hidden in other budgets.
http://ian56.blogspot.com/2013/03/military-spending-1962-to-date.html

The Pentagon could find the sequester cuts out of petty cash.
Pentagon waste is far more than this.
Lots of examples of Pentagon waste are detailed in here.
Over $500bn of annual Pentagon waste.
http://ian56.blogspot.com/2012/11/it-is-very-easy-to-cut-1tn-from-federal.html

And finally the budget deal :-
The House has approved a crony Corporatist budget deal that will wreck America and the budget that should be on the table

People are wondering : What will China do in the future?

Posted on 01:34 by Unknown
When this latest massive financial bubble bursts, what will China do in the future as economic tensions between the US and China build up?

Some say that physical, military war with China is inevitable.
The US military must already be considering this possibility.
The Pentagon already plans to encircle China with Stealth fighter and other military bases.
As usual the generals plan to fight the next major war with the weapons of the last, which will become completely redundant by the time any physical war actually breaks out.
The next war will be fought with electromagnetic pulses, cyber warfare and weapons that we probably can't even imagine yet.

China is already planning to replace the US Dollar as the global reserve currency.
China is already marginalizing the USD through a series of numerous non USD trade deals and the setting up of the "Brics bank" which is intended to replace the Federal Reserve, the IMF and World Bank.

The US is already war gaming a currency war with China, with the advice of Jim Rickards.

China is no longer buying US Treasuries.
It is converting the US Dollars it is still receiving in trade into hard assets - land, oil, gold, other mineral rights, buying the largest producer of US pork, buying JP Morgan's old headquarters in Manhattan etc.

The passing of Citizens United makes it possible for almost unlimited Corporate campaign donations (bribes).
US politicians are easily bribed, e.g. the 2 leading members of the Senate Banking Committee were bought by JP Morgan for 6 years for just $880,000.

Why wouldn't China just buy/set up US front companies in order to buy US politicians?

Why wouldn't China test out this potential strategy at the State level first?
Why wouldn't they say, buy land to set up a 50 sq mile "economic development zone" in Idaho.
Why wouldn't they buy 3 relatively small retail banks in the US?
Why wouldn't they buy farmland?
Why wouldn't they buy American food producers?
Why wouldn't they bribe local state politicians with the promise of local jobs and campaign donations?

Spending a few $100m on buying Federal politicians would be a lot cheaper than fighting a military war against the US (cold or hot) and the outcome would be far more certain (for China).
The US wasted over $5tn just fighting the minor localized wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The US is building military bases and moving troops into 35 more African countries, presumably to counter the Chinese natural resource deals that have already been made with half of Africa.
Africa could well give the best clues as to how things might eventually pan out.

The number of laws being passed that undermine a free society is increasing

Posted on 08:26 by Unknown
Some examples :-

In the US
You are no longer able to protest near where a Secret Service agent is expected to operate.
So the authorities merely need to create an excuse for a Secret  Service agent to operate in the vicinity of a planned demonstration in order to be able to cancel it.

In the UK
Laws have been passed that make it easier for the authorities to ban any demonstrations they wish to. They merely have to state that such demonstration might cause some inconvenience or disturbance to the local neighborhood.
It is very unlikely that a reasonably well attended protest would not cause any inconvenience to local residents.
Protesters tend to chant slogans and have speeches with public address systems.

In Canada
You are no longer allowed to wear a mask at a demonstration.
The purpose of this law is so that the authorities can identify you, in order to carry out possible later harassment and intimidation.

In Japan
Secrecy laws have now been forced through which allows the government to make any topic, e.g. Fukushima, a State Secret with heavy penalties for divulging information.
You are not allowed to know what the government considers a State Secret until the government accuses someone of breaking it.
http://www.washingtonsblog.com/2013/11/fukushima-radiation-will-hit-fish-west-coast-north-america.html

In Spain
New laws have just been passed with heavy fines for "unauthorised" street protests
The recent Spanish protests against their current extreme economic deprivation have been notable for the peacefulness of the demonstrators (if not of the Police).
http://libertyblitzkrieg.com/2013/12/02/war-on-democracy-spain-and-japan-move-to-criminalize-protests/

In the US, UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand
The authorities are now collecting just about every piece of electronic communication and phone call on every citizen, via the Five Eyes program and the sharing of Mass Surveillance information.
The purpose of this is the possible future harassment and intimidation of political activists plus domestic political control of important domestic figures.
http://ian56.blogspot.com/2013/11/as-keith-alexander-has-already-admitted.html
The REAL purpose of NSA Mass Surveillance is to undermine democracy in America & the West to promote the interests of large crony Corporations
http://ian56.blogspot.com/2013/09/the-primary-purpose-of-nsas-mass.html

In the Ukraine
The government passed anti-demonstration measures and then cancelled the proposed EU trade negotiation.
The Ukranians response was to hold mass demonstrations with thousands of protestors against the measures.
But I guess the Ukranians value the rights of the individual and individual freedom far more highly than do the citizens of the U.S., the UK, Canada, Australia or New Zealand.
Ukranians well remember what the lack of individual rights is like.

In the US Laws and measures have recently been passed to :-
Remove the right to a speedy and fair trial if accused of a crime
Completely remove the right to privacy (from government surveillance)
Remove the right of public protest without fear of harassment or intimidation or physical violence by the authorities
Remove the rights of a journalist to write a highly critical piece on the government, without fear of arrest or other intimidation by the government (the UK has already used this)
Allow the Federal government to unilaterally declare Martial Law even if the local Governor or the Mayor disagrees.
Militarize the Police and DHS with ex-army equipment, including armored heavy trucks and armored cars.
Soften up the public to expect abuses by the authorities via the TSA, more frequent police abuses, dry runs of Martial Law, arming of IRS agents etc.
Develop facial recognition software to automatically link a face in a crowd to an id and the surveillance dossier held on every citizen. To be used on surveillance drones and "security" cameras.
Allow surveillance drones to fly in every inch of American airspace via over 50 authorized American military airbases.
http://ian56.blogspot.com/2012/11/obamas-civil-rights-violations.html

Allow limitless political funding by Corporations via SuperPacs and Citizens United.
This takes away the individuals rights to free, fair and unrigged elections.
The outcome of elections in America is now almost exclusively decided by Corporate election funding and by the Corporate controlled and owned mass media.
Individuals hardly ever even get to vote for a candidate that is not completely owned by Corporate interests. Candidates that are not owned by Corporate funding rarely get the publicity required in order to be able to mount a serious campaign.

The TPP and Tafta "trade" agreements (in progress) which subjugate National Sovereignty and individual rights in favor of the rights of multinational Corporations.

Update 12/11
London's biggest university bans student protests - Channel 4 News
http://www.channel4.com/news/university-of-london-student-protest-ban-senate-house-occupy

In Australia
A new law has been passed (VLAD) which will allow the government to jail almost anyone it does not like for 15 years.

November jobs report without the hype - only 41,500 new jobs, REAL unemployment has gone UP

Posted on 19:03 by Unknown
Taking the government shutdown and furloughed government workers out of the equation and taking the total numbers for October and November gives the following numbers :

83,000 jobs were created in total in October and November.
An average of 41,500 per month.

This is far lower the number of jobs that are required to be created just to keep up with population growth, which is 150,000 to 180,000 a month.

664,000 people dropped out of the civilian labor force (they either retired or gave up looking for work, because no decent jobs are out there).

The number of people over 16 years of age grew by 399,000.

The labor participation rate (those in work or looking for work) further declined from 63.2% to 63.0%.

It got even harder to find a job in America in the last 2 months.

The headline "unemployment"  number declined from 7.2% to 7.0%. But this merely records the number of people that are currently claiming unemployment benefits or have actively looked for a job in the last 4 weeks, NOT the number of people that are unemployed.

All of the following numbers are taken from the Household survey - not the numbers used in the headlines which come from the Establishment survey.
The Establishment survey disagrees with all the other data available and consistently overstates job creation by between 80,000 and 100,000 per month.

The Data for the Last Year

Taking the period for December 2012 to November 2013 :-

1.1 million more people have a job.
This is a monthly job creation rate of 92,400.
The media are erroneously reporting that average monthly job creation is 195,000 for the past year, or more than double the actual rate.

The number of new jobs required to keep pace with population growth is between 150,000 and 180,000 per month.
The number of people over 16 has increased by 2.4 million in the last year (or an average of 200,000 per month).

While the number of people that are claiming unemployment benefits has declined from 7.8% to 7.0%,
the labor participation rate has seen a significant decline from 63.6% to 63.0%.
America's unemployment rate using the criteria used in other Western countries is actually around 11.5%.
U6 unemployment which includes people forced to work part time is 13%.

The unemployment overhang is actually over 23% - this includes people who would go back into the labor force if there were well paying jobs available (which there aren't - most of the jobs being created are in low wage sectors such as retail, almost no well paying jobs are being created).

No nation is going to prosper when the percentage of it's people that have jobs continues to show a relentless decline.

References

All the above numbers are taken from the November BLS Household Survey
http://www.bls.gov/news.release/empsit.a.htm

The government (and then the media) use the data in the erroneous Establishment survey (it makes them look far better than they actually are).
http://www.bls.gov/news.release/empsit.b.htm

Update 12/16
Of the 1.1 million additional people that now have jobs since December 2012, 373,000 of them are over 65 (mostly because they cannot now afford to retire).
34% of the total.
The number of additional working age people aged 16 to 64 with jobs is only 727,000 or 60,000 per month.
This is far less than that required to keep up with population growth.
http://data.bls.gov/timeseries/LNU02000097

Real Unemployment + Underemployment is now over 23% and slowly rising.
This number needs to substantially decrease (by about 10%) before we see any real improvement in the U.S. labor market.
This is unlikely to ever happen, given current government and Federal Reserve policy.

Update 12/21
What happens when the pace of new business starts up slows down?
http://www.npr.org/2013/10/31/241842739/what-happens-when-the-pace-of-startups-slows-down
You get dire jobs numbers - see above.

The BLS Birth/Death model is over estimating job creation by new business start ups.
The number of new businesses being started and the average number of people employed in those new business are both declining.
http://ian56.blogspot.com/2013/05/business-start-ups-bls-birthdeath-model.html

Over statements in the BLS Birth/Death model are responsible for some of the over statement for job creation in the Establishment survey (it does not affect the Household survey).

Why aren't the 99% of companies that are getting screwed by the government, complaining?

Posted on 16:07 by Unknown
Corporate profits are already showing signs of reversing (except for the financial sector - the financial sector is still getting $1tn a year of government subsidies).

When the middle class is wiped out, how will the large Corporations make any money?

Why aren't the over 99% of American companies that are not crony Corporations protesting about current government policy which discriminates against them in favor of the government cronies?

It is not just 99% of people that are getting screwed in the current deal.
It's 99% of companies as well.

http://ian56.blogspot.com/2013/10/all-of-policies-of-federal-government.html

We need to change the language of the political debate and call out the Extremists.
We need a budget deal that benefits 99% of Americans and American companies, not a budget deal for a few crony Corporations and a few thousand crony Corporate elites.
