Why doesn't the American government stop wasting trillions of dollars on pointless wars now and save their money to combat China in the future?

It looks like the Pentagon is finally focussing on China as America's next strategic threat.
America hasn't had a strategic threat since the demise of the USSR in 1989/1992, but has wasted upwards of $5tn on pointless, counter productive and unsuccessful military adventures and wars in the Middle East since 2001.

The latest developments concerning China.

America is turning it's attentions to the Pacific and away from Europe.
It plans to surround China with Air force bases and stealth planes by 2017.

It will be another huge waste of money of course. It will only benefit the arms companies that supply the planes and the bankers that lend the American government the huge sums involved.

Each major war is quite unlike the last one.

Napoleon conquered half of Europe by the effective use of large numbers of cannons.

The American civil war went on for so long - because neither side made effective use of large number of cannons. It was a bloodbath of attrition and full frontal assaults.
Only the Union had the resources to build large quantities of longer range cannon - the Union generals and Lincoln were too stupid to learn anything from Napoleon.

WW1 was about trench warfare and Dreadnought battleships - tanks weren't even recognized by the stupid generals as the most effective weapon against trench warfare.

WW2 was about Blitzkrieg, tanks and aircraft carriers.

The cold war was about mutual nuclear deterrence.

The next major war won't be anything like what has gone before.
The only thing we can be reasonably certain of, is that it will be a war between America and Chinese centered SE Asia.
It might be a hot or a cold war.
But in any event it will be about cyber warfare, electronic pulses and satellite disruption and weapons we haven't even begun to imagine.
Stealth planes, aircraft carriers, nuclear weapons and drones won't be effective. They will be old redundant technology. And a complete waste of money.

The Chinese won't provoke war until they are ready.
The Chinese know the Americans won't give up their hegemonic power easily.
The Chinese leadership is smart enough to fight this war on their terms - not the Americans with their completely idiotic "leadership"  - the Chinese have much larger manufacturing capabilities and they will have FAR more extensive trading relations - they are already the largest exporting nation in the world.

The Chinese now largely control the global production of electronic chips - there are large numbers of chip fabrication plants in China and they continue to build more - or more accurately American chip manufacturers continue to build chip fabrication plants in China, not America.

The Americans will be bankrupted and won't have any money at all to re-arm with new weapons.
The politicians in Washington and the military planners in the Pentagon have already lost the coming war in a few decades time, unless they completely reverse course now.

The Chinese have just started adjusting their military from quantity to quality "to be more effective against a more technologically advanced foe".
No prizes for guessing who that more technologically advanced foe might be.

The pointless American wars of aggression are set to expand still further - into Mali.
The US is sending troops into 35 more African countries in 2013.
America is now going to waste even more money on further pointless wars of aggression and the development of more pointless weapons systems.
What good will the next generation of stealth fighter and nuclear ballistic submarines be in African wars for natural resources? These two projects alone will cost the American government about $2tn over the next 8 years.

Meanwhile over the last 10 years China has signed up half of Africa for free in natural resource trade deals and return infrastructure building projects in Africa.
Chinese engineers are now common place in many African countries, building a large variety of infrastructures from roads and railways to dams and mobile phone/internet networks.
Large parts of Africa are undergoing a communications revolution.

China has just started using Africa as a manufacturing base.
In Ethiopia of all places, to make large quantities of cheap shoes.
It is estimated to generate $4bn a year in new exports - a huge amount for a country like Ethiopia.
http://www.businessweek.com/news/2012-03-22/huajian-of-china-s-ethiopian-export-zone-may-generate-4-billion

Mutual co-operation and trade creates jobs and wealth.
War causes economic devastation and poverty for the main belligerents.

China continues to get richer and stronger through trade, while America continues to grow poorer and weaker through it's extremely poor governance, non-existent strategic planning and low level warfare against a non-existent enemy.

China has friendly relations with most of Africa and the Middle East.
American aggression in Africa will turn more African countries into the arms of China instead of America.
And China will get them for free and voluntarily - not at the point of a gun costing trillions.

This includes Saudi Arabia who are doing large trade deals with China.
The Chinese are building a huge oil export facility in Saudi Arabia - there is talk of other large infrastructure projects to be built with Chinese expertise, e.g. there was talk about building the trans Saudi Arabian rail line with Chinese expertise.

Trade has always been more profitable than war.

Except for the arms companies that make the bullets and bombs; and the banks that lend governments huge amounts of money to finance unprofitable stupid military adventures and wars.
It has been that way for many hundreds of years.
The bankers have always got rich out of war.

“Peace, commerce, and honest friendship with all nations...entangling alliances with none”

Thomas Jefferson

Recent American governments have forgotten everything anyone ever knew about basic economics.
They have also forgotten everything anyone ever knew about what makes countries wealthy.

Mutual cooperation and TRADE makes nations wealthy, war and excessive amounts of military spending makes nations poor.

Will America wake up before it's too late?
It's a million to one shot that they will - the so called "leaders" in Washington are extremely stupid and so are the voters.
