“The smart way to keep people passive and obedient is to strictly limit the spectrum of acceptable opinion, but allow very lively debate within that spectrum....”

Why do Dems immediately assume that if I say something critical of Obama then I must be a GOP supporter?

Why do GOP supporters immediately assume that if I say something critical of their party I must be a Dem supporter?

I support NEITHER party.
They are BOTH absolutely terrible.
They are BOTH flushing America down the toilet.

Goldman Sachs and General Electric have done a great job of polarising the nation over relatively trivial issues, most of them social. (General Electric own 49% of NBC.) We all know who owns Faux News.

I don't agree with Noam Chomsky on much, but I agree 100% with the following quote of his.
“The smart way to keep people passive and obedient is to strictly limit the spectrum of acceptable opinion, but allow very lively debate within that spectrum....”

That Chomsky quote perfectly sums up what happened in the Fiscal Cliff deal.
Sham arguments were created over trivialities.
The annual $1tn+ of Corporate Welfare was never discussed.

Neither was the fact that military spending is now 60% of discretionary spending at $1,219bn a year and set to rise further. The politicians actively lie about the money being spent on the military.

All the while that people are arguing over social issues or soaking the rich, they are not directing their anger at Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan stealing their money.

I make it my business to stay informed and keep up with current events and opinion on the net.
I don't watch any TV news - it is the Department of Propaganda for the 6 large Corporations that own 90% of the media.
I make up my mind about things after weighing up the evidence from both sides and neutrals.
I use critical thinking.

Perhaps more people should try and do likewise.
They might start realising then just how badly this country is being run by BOTH parties and more importantly start doing something about it.

Perhaps more people should stop cultishly supporting the Dems and the GOP and start supporting America again.
